When Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye finally appear in the same movie, Marvel changes the game.
The Avengers (2012) is the film that turned several separate superhero stories into one enormous cinematic event. Nick Fury brings Earth’s most powerful heroes together when Loki arrives with the Tesseract and an army capable of bringing the planet to its knees. But getting these characters to actually work as a team proves to be almost as difficult as defeating the enemy.
Tony Stark doesn’t exactly make things easy. Steve Rogers has his own idea of what a leader should be. Thor is dealing with the fact that Loki is his brother, while Bruce Banner is trying to keep his anger under control. Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton bring something completely different to the team, and Nick Fury has to somehow make all of them fight for the same cause.
And then everything explodes.
From the Battle of New York and Loki’s invasion to Hulk’s unforgettable moments, Iron Man’s sacrifice and the first real Avengers team-up, this movie is packed with scenes that became some of the most recognizable moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
